HCS Steel Drum Ensemble continues a busy season

This past week, the Hampton City Schools (HCS) Steel Drum Ensemble members and their director, Michelle Raybourne, continued their packed performance schedule. The students recently shared their musical talents at Kraft Elementary School, Patrick Elementary School, and the Northampton Community Connection Fair. 

“The kids totally rose above the expectations I set - way above. I was blown away at their musicianship and teamwork,” said Raybourne. 

A special thank you goes out to the George P. Phenix PreK-8 School administration and staff for providing the practice venue for the ensemble. 

“This city-wide ensemble enriches the music education these students are receiving in their band and chorus classes. We are proud of this decade-long tradition of providing a unique music ensemble for students and our community,” said Kelly Dee, the HCS visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
