Hampton Education Foundation awards educational grants to teachers totaling nearly $30,000
The Hampton Education Foundation (HEF) recently awarded grants totaling $29,915.92 to Hampton City Schools teachers. A total of 33 grants were awarded to teachers at 18 different schools.
Teachers had the opportunity to apply for two types of grants, the Innovative Instructional Grant and the Instructional Mini-Grant.
Innovation grants (individual and group):
This program is to help Hampton City Schools teachers to develop, plan, implement and evaluate innovative instructional strategies which are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. All Hampton City Schools teachers, including resource teachers, were eligible to apply.
This year HEF funded Individual Innovation Grants in an amount up to $1,000 and, new this year, groups of teachers/staff at the same school working on one project together were able to apply for a Group Innovation Grant in an amount up to $2,500.

Have specific measurable outcomes

Will target needs of challenged students

Include unique ways of using technology and 21st century learning

Focus on increasing achievement and self-efficacy of all students
Mini-Grants:
The purpose of the Mini-Grant Program for Teachers is to provide materials, supplies, and/or resources to enhance and improve the classroom learning experience in alignment with the Virginia Standards of Learning. This can include, but is not limited to: project materials, classroom supplies, instructional tools, and student supplies. Grants up to $500 may be requested. All Hampton City Schools teachers, including resource teachers, were eligible to apply.
