School Board selects student School Board representatives for 2017-2018
The Hampton School Board has selected Xaiver Williams, a rising junior at Hampton High School, as the student representative to the School Board for 2017-2018. Natalie Kidd, a rising senior at Kecoughtan High School, has been selected as the alternate.
The students were selected from a pool of applicants who submitted applications to the School Board. The Board conducted formal interviews with each of the applicants and selected these two students as representatives for the students in the school division.
Williams is a section leader in the HHS marching band, and is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. In addition, he serves on the City of Hampton Youth Commission, is the Hampton Council PTA student representative, and is a member of Calvary Community Church, where he is a youth pastor adjutant. He is also a representative on the City of Hampton Neighborhood Commission.
Kidd is a member of the Keyettes, DECA, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Youth in Government, (Principal’s Advising & Consulting Team (PACT), Blogging Club, is a junior class officer, and is a member of the varsity volleyball team at her school. She also volunteers her time for childhood cancer, Christian Surfers, and Relay for Life.
The role of the representative is to represent the voice of Hampton students on issues and policies that directly affect the student body by playing an active role in Board discussions. This is a non-voting role for the student.

The majority of pages in our site are available in HTML format that can be deciphered by screen readers. Some documents are in Portable Document Format (PDF), which require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.
Also, many popular browsers contain built-in accessibility tools, and there are other plug-ins that make websites more accessible.
The HCS website is designed and monitored by HCS Webmaster Vickie Carper, who serves as the gatekeeper for website content and accessibility. The Webmaster is under the direction of the Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing, supervised by the Director of Graphics.

Our continuing goal is for the HCS website to be accessible to individuals with disabilities in compliance with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and that statute's implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. Periodically the HCS Webmaster checks the website with a recognized website checker such as 508 Checker and WAVE. If the audit identifies issues of concern or content errors that impede accessibility to any user, the concerns/errors are evaluated and remedied within a six-week period.
