Tiffany Hardy invited to present at VDOE webinar

Tiffany Hardy, director of student services for Hampton City Schools, has been invited to present at the Virginia Department of Education Strategies for Supporting Attendance and Student Engagement During COVID-19.

Hardy, along with representatives of Norfolk Public Schools, Montgomery County Public Schools, and Richmond City Public Schools will share their attendance practices and provide examples of how their collaborations with school teams and community agencies to support students and families are positively impacting attendance.

Hardy said, “As school divisions throughout Virginia work through the challenges of navigating the pandemic, we are called to monitor student attendance and participation more than ever before. Virtual and hybrid learning formats, as well as the intense challenges families are facing, create opportunities for young people to lose access to learning. In response, the Virginia Department of Education is hosting a webinar on December 3 to share Strategies for Supporting Attendance and Student Engagement During COVID-19. Over 1,200 people are pre-registered for the event and we are excited to celebrate all of the staff members and community partners who work tirelessly to ensure we connect every student to learning during these challenging times.”

The webinar is open to attendance officers/specialists, school psychologists, school social workers, school counselors, liaisons for the homeless, and school administrators. It will be held on December 3, 2020, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
